| Technical Foundations and Advanced Nitrox Combo Classes |
|
Technical Foundations is the backbone of the SSI TechXR Program. During this course, students will learn to assess their breathing mixes for longer dives, within and beyond no-decompression limits. Technical Foundations divers will be trained to utilize single tanks with H- or Y-valves or twinsets using an isolation manifold. Divers will be introduced to advanced dive planning and make training dives as deep as 140 ft (42m). Students will also learn about oxygen procedures and will use EAN up to 50% for decompression obligations and to improve off-gas efficiency. For divers who meet the necessary requirements and who have the mandatory number of logged dives, Technical Foundations is the way to go. This course uses the same materials presented in the Advanced Nitrox course with the additional skills needed to complete real decompression dives. Technical Foundations will also promote advanced emergency procedures and give a more in-depth look at technical diving equipment and what types of equipment are needed to safely complete staged decompression dives up to 140 ft (42m). This holistic approach helps create an all encompassing beginner course toward becoming a technical diver. A minimum of 10-12 dives are required to complete this certification. (This includes the 6-8 needed for Advanced Nitrox) Prerequisites:
TechXR Standards
If you still don’t have the prerequisites needed for Technical Foundations, please consider taking Advanced Nitrox and then upgrade toTechnical Foundations once all requirements have been meet. Look at the prerequisite above or call the shop for more information.
